Synopsis

(Turning) his tongue is a monologue that plays with the conference, a playful and undisciplined bricolage-montage in which we follow the intimate reflection of Klervi Thienpont in his desire for linguistic emancipation, and this with vulnerability, ridicule, humor, and mordant wit.

The piece ranges from «Bonjour-Hi» to studies regularly published on the quality of the language in Quebec, through automatisms, prejudices, and complexes. It addresses accents, diction, norms, complexity, colonization, alienation, and the freedoms to be reclaimed. Through it, it also addresses our linguistic insecurity, and therefore our identity.
