Synopsis
In a neighborhood restaurant-bar, a place of meeting and exchange, the character of L’Acteur addresses his audience directly. He is accompanied on stage by a musician.
With humor, without white gloves, The Actor talks about suicide based on that of his brother that occurred fifteen years earlier. He seeks to understand why. In complicity with the spectators, he shares his reflections, going from anger to incomprehension to guilt, like a pre-planned journey.
In telling the story of his brother, he finds himself revealing his own. His relationships with his parents, with his friends, even with religion—all are defined by the suicide of this figure who was his hero. He realizes that since the disappearance of his accomplice, his entire life has been devoted to repairing broken pots, living for two. Being the only surviving member of a duo, he finds that, for fifteen years, he has been forced to perform life in honor of his brother, even turning it into a play.
The Actor, aware of his relationship with the public and of his presence on a stage, uses theater to provoke this last conversation with his brother, the one he will never have.
Thank you for coming It seeks to facilitate discussion around suicide and to give a voice to those grieving. This unique piece brings together rarely paired theatrical styles: autofiction, intervention theater, and even stand-up!
